The Director of Nursing Services acts as the primary clinical authority within the community, tasked with overseeing the health and wellness of residents while ensuring the seamless coordination of care and services. Key Responsibilities

Health and Wellness Management:
- Provides strategic leadership for resident care by managing and supervising the nursing team in accordance with applicable state/provincial laws, promoting the health and wellness of the resident population.
- Delivers clinical care through the application of the nursing process; conducts and documents resident assessments, evaluates care needs, formulates Individualized Service Plans (ISP)/Individualized Care Plans (ICP), and delegates hands-on clinical care as necessary.
- Collaborates with healthcare professionals, including physicians and pharmacists, to ensure coordinated care and services for residents.
- Acts as the CLIA Director as required by federal and state/provincial regulations.
- Partners with Neighborhood Coordinators to foster an integrated approach to wellness operations and resident care.
- Works alongside Sales teams to assess community capabilities and evaluate potential residents for admission.
- Seeks guidance from a Registered Nurse as necessary, in compliance with state/provincial regulations.
Medication Oversight:
- Leads the medication management team, ensuring compliance with state/provincial laws to enhance resident health and safety.
- Oversees the community's medication management program, ensuring resident safety throughout the medication use process, including onboarding and training.
- Provides clinical training and education to nursing staff and care managers, ensuring competency through skill evaluations.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Monitors and reports clinical quality data to identify potential risks.
- Actively participates in the community's Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement committee.
- Leads initiatives aimed at improving clinical quality and processes to enhance resident care outcomes.
- Responsible for recruiting, hiring, and training clinical staff, along with performance management and evaluations.
- Ensures staffing and scheduling align with operational and budgetary guidelines.
- Collaborates with community leadership to promote resident safety and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Manages infection control programs in accordance with state/provincial requirements.
- Ensures adherence to all federal, state/provincial, and nursing board regulations.
Financial Oversight:
- Manages departmental budgets, including labor and operational expenses, understanding their impact on the community's financial health.
- Submits monthly expense reports and budget data in alignment with company policies.
- Understands the costs associated with all resident care programs.
Training and Development:
- Collaborates with the Regional Director of Resident Care in the implementation of training programs.
- Onboards new nursing leaders and department coordinators as necessary.
- Maintains knowledge of state/provincial regulations, ensuring compliance through supervision and coaching.
- Conducts staffing and scheduling for clinical team members according to operational needs.
- Ensures accountability within the clinical team, addressing performance issues as needed.
- Participates in regular meetings to foster communication and collaboration.
- Stays informed of professional developments through reading and attending relevant training sessions.
- Completes all required training to maintain compliance with state/provincial regulations.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a current state/provincial RN license.
- Minimum of two years of RN experience, preferably in home health, assisted living, or long-term care.
- At least one year of nursing management experience, including hiring and performance management.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Demonstrated knowledge of nursing practices in compliance with applicable regulations.
- Understanding of infection control practices.
- Ability to delegate tasks based on team members' skill levels.
- Experience in clinical performance data analysis preferred.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Proficient in electronic medical records and Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and on-call responsibilities.
