Position:

Space Systems Specialists

KBR is in search of Space Systems Specialists to become part of our Hemisphere team. The selected candidates will act as trusted advisors and authorities on space systems control functions and the engineering services necessary to support the protect and defend mission set for Space Systems Command (SSC). Successful candidates will work closely with the Hemisphere leadership team to ensure that processes and deliverables are met within the program timeline while demonstrating extensive knowledge in the integration of space control systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of technical requirements, systems engineering, and supervise contractors in the design, production, integration, and testing of space systems.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of payload integration, sensor utilization, and the application of orbital mechanics as they relate to space operations, CONOPS development, and mission planning.
  • Conduct system integration across multiple initiatives to incorporate complex space systems into operational on-orbit activities.
  • Communicate effectively and collaboratively with mission partners regarding interface control documents.
  • Oversee the verification and validation processes of requirements and ensure their execution.
  • Perform risk assessments for space programs and provide actionable insights to the Chief Engineer and Program Manager.
  • Collaborate expertly with representatives from government program offices, FFRDC, SETA, and other contractor personnel.

Qualifications:

Essential Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a relevant scientific discipline (orbital mechanics, space physics, etc.) with a minimum of five years of experience.
  • Expertise in the development of technical requirements, systems engineering lifecycle, and its application to DoD space system acquisition processes.
  • Proficient in the verification and validation of requirements for specific components and subcomponents of space systems, including orbitology, navigation, sensor utilization, communications, optimization, and command and control.
  • Possession of an active Top Secret SCI clearance.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities within the Aerospace or DoD sectors, working across both space and ground segment organizations.
  • Experience in roles such as team lead, project leader, or program manager on performance-based contracts for the U.S. Government.
  • Highly skilled in drafting and delivering documents and presentations with effective communication that fosters inclusivity of ideas while leading a multidisciplinary team of engineers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Eligibility for SAP.
  • Expertise in navigating dynamic and fast-paced engineering acquisition program offices within the DoD.
  • Experience with DoD or NRO programs focusing on space system architectures, including the ground segment layer.
  • Familiarity with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and best practices in software engineering.

Compensation:

The target salary range for this position is between 160K and 185K, with the final offer based on the selected candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience.
