Position Overview

AECOM is seeking a Junior Civil Engineering Specialist to support our Environmental Services team. This role will primarily focus on projects related to Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) within the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop analytical and design capabilities.
  • Assist in engineering design under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Create designs, calculations, sketches, and diagrams while collaborating with experienced engineers.
  • Gather and evaluate data under supervision.
  • Utilize software tools to address fundamental engineering challenges.
  • Ensure project deliverables align with established budgets and timelines.
  • Provide CAD support for various environmental facilities, including solid waste management and stormwater systems.
  • Draft site layouts, drainage plans, and utility systems using tools such as AutoCAD and Civil3D.
  • Contribute to report preparation and site assessments in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Apply regulatory knowledge to establish design standards and facilitate permitting processes.
  • Organize and compile reports, maps, and hydrologic data for project planning and design.
  • Incorporate project criteria, including schedules and budgets, into civil design layouts.
  • Conduct site evaluations to assess field conditions and identify erosion control needs.
  • Employ standard methodologies while seeking innovative approaches to enhance efficiency.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Records review as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in civil engineering projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Hands-on experience with AutoCAD and/or Civil3D for civil engineering tasks.
  • Familiarity with HydroCAD.
  • Knowledge of site development and stormwater management practices.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification.
  • Strong organizational, technical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently to meet project deadlines.
