Position Overview

AECOM is looking for a Junior Civil Engineering Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will assist our Remediation division within the Environmental sector, focusing on projects related to Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) in the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop analytical and design capabilities.
  • Assist in engineering design under the guidance of a senior engineer.
  • Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, and final working drawings under supervision.
  • Gather and analyze data with oversight from experienced engineers.
  • Utilize software tools to address fundamental engineering challenges.
  • Ensure work aligns with established budgets and timelines under supervision.
  • Provide computer-aided design support for various facilities, including solid waste management and stormwater systems.
  • Draft site layouts, drainage, roadway, grading, and utility systems using software such as AutoCAD and Civil3D.
  • Assist in report preparation, site evaluations, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary project team.
  • Apply regulatory knowledge to develop standards and theories for project design and permitting.
  • Organize and compile reports, maps, drawings, and other relevant data for project planning and design.
  • Incorporate schedules, budgets, and other project criteria into civil designs.
  • Conduct site evaluations to assess field conditions and identify needs for drainage and erosion control.
  • Employ standard techniques while developing innovative methods to enhance efficiency.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • A valid Driver's License is required.
  • Must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in civil engineering projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Civil3D for civil engineering projects.
  • Familiarity with HydroCAD.
  • Knowledge in site development, erosion control, and stormwater design.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification.
  • Strong organizational, technical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently to meet project deadlines.
