Position Overview: The Medical Imaging Specialist plays a crucial role in the installation, inspection, troubleshooting, and maintenance of sophisticated medical imaging devices across various specialties, including but not limited to MRI, CT, Cath-Labs, and Radiation Oncology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate proficiency with all types of clinical equipment and may extend maintenance duties beyond the designated specialty.
  • Take charge of the following equipment: CT, MRI, Cath-Lab, R/F, Digital X-ray, Gamma Camera, Bone Density, Ultrasound, Mammography, Mobile X-ray, and CR systems.
  • Act as a consultant to medical and clinical personnel regarding the specifications, acquisition, safe operation, and effective use of specialized equipment.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards, assist in managing inventory, and foster departmental enhancement by mentoring fellow associates.
  • Conduct performance assurance inspections, scheduled maintenance, and operational verification procedures on intricate medical imaging apparatus.
  • Repair, install, and calibrate advanced medical imaging technologies and systems.
  • Keep supervisors informed about the status of repairs, scheduled inspections, and any unusual equipment issues or customer feedback.
  • Collaborate with and oversee the activities of subcontractors, vendors, and external service technicians to guarantee optimal service delivery.
  • Maintain Clinical Engineering expertise through continuous education and training.
  • Lead special projects within Service Operations as assigned and contribute to the growth of others through mentorship and knowledge sharing.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the equipment database, including inventory, performance assurance schedules, nomenclature, and service history.
  • Comply with the Medical Equipment Management Plan, including all regulatory agency requirements and applicable policies and procedures.
  • Accountable for ensuring all service and documentation are completed accurately and promptly.
  • Collaborate with Medical Physicists to ensure accurate radiation outputs for regulatory compliance and patient safety.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of current inventory status and maintain a stock of common failure parts.
  • Verify the completion of security assessments for new customer equipment.
  • Perform Incoming Inspections to maintain a thorough and accurate inventory of medical devices, including trial, rental, and loaner equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in a technical or electronics field or equivalent military training is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or engineering technology is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation of medical imaging equipment, or 4+ years of experience with complex electrical systems.
