Job Summary

The Academic Coordinator will provide support and logistical guidance to theme directors and faculty leading project teams in two to three Bass Connections themes. This role will oversee academic crediting and enrollment for participating students, track and support affiliated courses, and manage student-facing programming including orientation and workshops for students, the student advisory council, and student outreach events.

Key Responsibilities

Theme Administration (45%):
  • Support two to three Bass Connections themes by working with faculty directors to communicate important program information, assist in the review process for new project proposals, coordinate theme-specific events, track team progress, and provide guidance and support as needed.
  • Attend meetings of project teams, provide policy guidance on processing expenses, adding students to payroll, and traveling with students, and track and maintain records related to student, faculty, and staff participation in the program database.
Student Programming (35%):
  • Coordinate and represent Bass Connections at student outreach events, manage the Bass Connections Student Advisory Council, and assist with related events, activities, and meetings.
  • Support the planning and execution of the annual student fair and showcase, respond to emails sent to the general office address, and support the student application and selection process.
  • Maintain and develop new resources and supports to facilitate the success of project teams, develop and run student orientation and other trainings as needed, and manage annual leadership, mentorship, and student research awards.
Academic Credit and Courses (25%):
  • Set up teams in the course request system, work with team leaders to register students for academic credit, and stay attuned to changes in the curriculum and how to align the program with curricular and degree program requirements.
  • Track Bass Connections affiliated courses, promote them to students, support the Collaborative Project Courses Faculty Fellows program and Collaborative Project Courses Expeditions program, and work with faculty and units to design and implement more collaborative, project-based courses.
Requirements

Work requires administrative and communication skills normally acquired through a bachelor's degree in a related field. At least three years of experience in program or academic administration, or any other equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience, is required. The ideal candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, and familiarity with operating in an academic environment, preferably in higher education.
