Academic Advisor

Job Summary:
The Academic Advisor will provide academic guidance and support to students in the University College, helping them navigate their academic journey and achieve their goals. This role will involve conducting one-on-one and small group advising sessions, reviewing student progress, and providing personalized guidance and support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct one-on-one and small group advising sessions with students to discuss academic progress, course selection, and career goals.
- Review student records and provide guidance on academic requirements and degree plans.
- Develop and implement strategies to support student success, including early alert mechanisms and proactive retention strategies.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and campus partners to facilitate seamless transitions for students and enhance the overall student experience.
- Participate in outreach efforts to recruit and retain students, including orientation programs and campus events.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in higher education, preferably in academic advising or a related field.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Familiarity with and appreciation for the mission and structure of North Carolina Central University programs and curricula.
