Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cement Plant Operations Specialist to join our team at Martin Marietta. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for monitoring and controlling the cement manufacturing process, ensuring efficient and safe plant operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain complex equipment, including roller mills, kilns, coolers, and finish mills, to optimize production and minimize downtime.
  • Monitor and analyze process data, including temperatures, pressures, and amp gauges, to identify areas for improvement and make adjustments as needed.
  • Coordinate with production personnel to ensure smooth operations and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Assign and prioritize tasks for operating personnel, ensuring that all work is completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Answer incoming calls and direct them to the appropriate personnel, providing excellent customer service and support.
  • Work closely with laboratory personnel to ensure the production of high-quality products, including cross-training and running samples as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of kiln and auxiliary equipment performance, including production rates, emissions, and other process variables.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Production Superintendent, including participating in outages and covering PTO days for other crews as needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in cement production, with a thorough understanding of the kiln process.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Windows, Excel, Microsoft, and Wonderware applications.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, and to work at heights up to 350 feet above ground level.
  • Physical stamina to sit or stand for long periods, with the ability to walk, climb stairs, bend, stoop, and perform other physical tasks as required.
