Senior Process Engineer for Cement Operations

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Regional Senior Process Engineer is responsible for guiding and facilitating discussions and investigations within cement plants to enhance throughput, efficiency, quality, and environmental sustainability.

Utilizing data analysis, field assessments, and process audits, along with engaging with plant personnel, the engineer identifies challenges and formulates effective solutions. This role is pivotal in driving the plant towards improved performance.

Key Responsibilities:
- Champion Health and Safety initiatives aligned with regional and plant objectives.
- Actively contribute to the safety programs and initiatives within the plants.
- Lead efforts to enhance the technical capabilities of the plant.

The Senior Process Engineer's primary goal is to initiate process optimization in collaboration with Quality, Production, and Maintenance teams to ensure the optimal and efficient use of plant equipment.

This role demands a commitment to elevating the technical knowledge and practices across all operational areas. Responsibilities include:

  • Continuous evaluation of equipment/system performance (e.g., energy consumption, refractory usage, Overall Equipment Efficiency).
  • Documenting findings and proposing actionable improvements.
  • Developing standard operating procedures and performance targets.
  • Training and mentoring operational staff to ensure consistent application of best practices.

The Senior Process Engineer also provides technical support for production, quality, and environmental functions within the plant. This includes:

  • Understanding and implementing strategies and optimization techniques to meet plant and corporate objectives.
  • Conducting audits and systematic evaluations of operations and processes.
  • Monitoring and optimizing High Level Control Systems (HLC).
  • Promoting the use of Alternative Fuels and Raw Materials (AFR) and assessing their impact on processes.
  • Facilitating the introduction of new equipment and procedures, including necessary training for plant personnel.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Automation Engineering, or related fields.
- 1-3 years of experience in cement plant operations.

Preferred Skills:
- Certification as a Holcim Process Performance Engineer.
- Proficiency in software tools such as SAP, TIS, HLC, and Microsoft Office.

Travel Requirements:
- Willingness to travel nationally up to 50% of the time.

Additional Attributes:
- Experience in managing technology development and pilot projects in process industries (e.g., cement, power generation, oil and gas).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and build strategic relationships within the organization and with external stakeholders.
