Cement Plant Operations Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Control Room Operator to join our team at Martin Marietta. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for monitoring and controlling the cement manufacturing process, ensuring safe and efficient plant operation.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain complex equipment, including roller mills, kilns, coolers, and finish mills, to optimize production and minimize downtime.
- Monitor and control process variables, such as temperatures, pressures, and amp gauges, to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Coordinate activities of operating personnel, assign tasks, and provide guidance and support as needed.
- Communicate effectively with lab personnel to ensure quality products and troubleshoot issues.
- Maintain accurate records of kiln and auxiliary equipment performance.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations, and report any incidents or near-misses.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Production Superintendent.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; 2+ years of experience in cement production and kiln process knowledge preferred.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Windows, Excel, and Wonderware applications.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Leadership skills and ability to fill in for the Production Superintendent as needed.
The Control Room Operator will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with exposure to various weather conditions, noise levels up to 120 dba, and mechanical and electrical hazards. The role requires the ability to work at heights up to 350' above ground level and to use personal protective equipment as required.
