Job Description

The University of Florida, Department of Pediatrics, Boye Research Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join a team of researchers in the Division of Cellular and Molecular Therapy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform research in the laboratory of Dr. Shannon Boye, focusing on developing viral vector-based gene therapies for the treatment of inherited ocular disease.
  • Conduct laboratory experiments using gene therapy applications and procedures established in the lab, including work with rodent animal models, histological work, and molecular/cellular work.
  • Assist in the execution of assigned experiments, review and interpret scientific results, and maintain a necessary rodent colony to achieve research objectives.
  • Present research findings to the principal investigator and at laboratory meetings, and participate in the writing of grants, papers, and statements of work.
  • Maintain laboratory safety programs and train personnel in laboratory safety techniques.
Requirements
  • PhD in the appropriate area of specialization.
  • Strong background in molecular biology, in vivo work, histology, AAV, and the ability to independently and efficiently carry out a project.
  • Experience with outcome measures in rodent models (ERG, OCT, fundoscopy, behavior testing), gene therapy and/or virology is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Candidate should have a strong work ethic and be able to work as part of a collaborative team.
  • Preference will be given to applicants that have demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively and have a strong interest in translational research.
