Are you enthusiastic about microfluidic technology and eager to investigate biogeochemical phenomena in geological contexts? The Geofluids Laboratory at a prominent university seeks a dedicated and results-driven research fellow to join our multidisciplinary research team.
The initiative centers on the design and application of geologically relevant microfluidic chip models to examine flow dynamics and biogeochemical reaction mechanisms. You will collaborate with teams in environmental microbiology and hydrochemistry to study biogeochemical interactions within these microfluidic frameworks. Potential applications of this research encompass hydrogen storage, carbon capture, enhanced oil recovery, and pollutant remediation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and fabricate microfluidic chips inspired by geomaterials.
- Conduct microfluidic experiments utilizing Micron-resolution PIV (μPIV) systems.
- Engage in computational modeling to simulate microfluidic experiments (training will be provided).
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals.
- Assist in the development of funding proposals.
- Oversee laboratory environments & mentor graduate students.
Ideal Candidates Will Possess:
- Significant experience in microfluidic and lab-on-a-chip system development and their applications.
- Experience in managing cells within microsystems (in vitro).
- A strong foundation in geochemistry, imaging, and image analysis is preferred.
- A Ph.D. in science or engineering, particularly in Biochemical, Environmental, or Petroleum disciplines.

Ph.D. in science or engineering, particularly in Biochemical, Environmental, or Petroleum disciplines.
