Position Overview:

The Financial Controller plays a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records for the organization. This position involves monitoring daily financial operations, reporting financial status to leadership, and developing systems for effective financial data collection, analysis, verification, and reporting. Confidentiality is paramount in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily accounting functions with the utmost confidentiality, including:
    • Month-end and year-end closing processes
    • Accounts payable and receivable management
    • Cash receipt processing
    • General ledger maintenance
    • Cash flow forecasting
    • Variance analysis of revenue and expenditures
    • Check processing
    • Management of financial documentation and data entry
    • Establishing and enforcing accounting policies and procedures
    • Maintaining fiscal records and files
    • Training staff on financial policies and best practices
    • Participating in departmental meetings
    • Providing cross-departmental support
    • Preparing financial statements and budgets
    • Ensuring compliance with maintenance and asset management
    • Conducting operational performance assessments
    • Guiding budget development at corporate and property levels
    • Monitoring purchasing and tax obligations
    • Other duties as assigned by leadership

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field; a master's degree is a plus.
  • Experience in accounting roles, preferably as an Accounting Manager.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with accounting software.
  • Experience with AccPac is desirable.
  • Strong discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive attitude and commitment to teamwork.
  • Fluency in English for effective communication.
  • Experience in a small business setting is advantageous.

Work Environment:

  • Office setting with moderate noise levels.

  • Occasional standing and walking to interact with team members.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
