Job Overview

PRIMARY ROLE

The Senior Financial Analyst plays a crucial role in the collaborative development, execution, and delivery of financial planning and analytics for Oakwood Village. This position ensures a comprehensive understanding of the financial landscape, identifying both opportunities and risks. Responsibilities include supporting processes, systems, modeling, reporting, and effective communication. The analyst serves as a consultant to department managers, guiding them in achieving financial objectives and goals. Key tasks involve preparing the annual budget, which includes the Statement of Operations, Statement of Financial Position, and Statement of Cash Flows; conducting monthly variance analysis in partnership with the Accounting Team; benchmarking data for growth opportunities; preparing SEC budget filings; and presenting findings to senior management.

This role reports directly to the Controller.

  • Oversee the annual operating and capital budget. Facilitate and develop the budgeting and financial planning processes through collaboration with business partners. Establish departmental budgets aligned with organizational strategies. Prepare the Statement of Operations, Statement of Financial Position, and Statement of Cash Flows, accompanied by insightful analysis.
  • Enhance financial analytics. Provide actionable insights and perspectives for decision-makers at Oakwood. Analyze performance, identify trends, and review results with business partners.
  • Collaborate on strategic initiatives. Work alongside the CFO and management team to develop and report key performance indicators, financial, and statistical information, modeling future programs and services.
  • Lead the formulation and analysis of pricing strategies for various programs and services.
  • Partner with the Controller to deliver financial results and strategic planning.
  • Engage in cross-functional teams to assess and implement operational improvements and growth opportunities. Conduct necessary operational analyses to support decision-making processes.
  • Maintain a mindset of continuous improvement, evaluating future needs and integrating technology to enhance the accuracy and timeliness of financial systems and processes.
  • Guide management and staff on fiscal control and profitability.
  • Position the organization to mitigate risks by reviewing and managing contracts, maintaining an active contract roster, and identifying cost reduction opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Treasury function to optimize investment returns and minimize cash risks.
  • Adopt a servant leadership approach, utilizing strong customer service skills when interacting with managers, board members, residents, and stakeholders.
  • Provide informal leadership within the Finance department, empowering staff to contribute creatively and develop as accountable team members.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND TRAINING

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required; MBA is preferred.
  • A minimum of ten years of accounting and management experience is required, with healthcare or long-term care accounting experience being a plus.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including vlookup, pivot tables, and data sourcing; SQL experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Oracle NetSuite or similar accounting software is preferred.
