Position Title:

Estimator

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Estimator to contribute to our projects. The Estimator will be tasked with analyzing project specifications and developing accurate cost estimates to assist management in preparing competitive bids. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in construction cost estimation and will play a crucial role in our bidding process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Learn and apply established methodologies for estimating tasks.
  • Gather historical cost data to inform current and future project estimates.
  • Engage with clients, vendors, and project teams to clarify project requirements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare detailed estimates to support management in planning and scheduling operations.
  • Review blueprints and project documentation to calculate time, materials, and labor costs.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and contractors to adjust estimates as necessary.
  • Examine contract documents to understand project scope and requirements.
  • Participate in project walk-throughs and pre-bid meetings.
  • Conduct quantitative take-offs and ensure accurate data entry.
  • Draft scope letters and proposals for client review.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, general contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Provide design/build, conceptual, and budget estimates as needed.
  • Coordinate take-offs and manage material procurement from vendors.
  • Ensure all estimating documents are securely stored in the company’s system.
  • Assist project managers with cost adjustments and take-offs.
  • Report critical issues to the Preconstruction Manager with suggested solutions.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Complete additional tasks as required by the company’s needs.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the construction sector.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Familiarity with construction industry practices and contract documentation.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Experience with estimating software such as Autobid Mechanical and Bluebeam is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

The role may require occasional travel to project sites for accurate take-offs and assessments. Candidates should be prepared for a mix of office and fieldwork.

Work Environment:
