POSITION OVERVIEW
A reputable commercial construction firm is seeking to enhance their team by hiring a skilled Cost Estimator.
This role involves calculating initial project budgets and preparing detailed job proposals by analyzing blueprints, conducting take-offs, and estimating overall project expenses.
The Cost Estimator collaborates with clients and their representatives to ensure that technical specifications and designs are practical and adhere to industry standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop precise and comprehensive job estimates.
- Identify project labor, material, and time requirements by reviewing proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
- Conduct site assessments and participate in pre-bid meetings to grasp the project scope.
- Review and take-off blueprints effectively.
- Request bids from subcontractors.
- Collect subcontractor pricing and perform scope evaluations.
- Assess subcontractor bids against bid documents and plans to ensure complete scope consideration.
- Calculate costs associated with subcontract labor, general conditions, and materials.
- Work closely with clients to help them meet their project budget by considering plan details, alternative materials/finishes, and construction methods.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proficient understanding of commercial construction documentation and pricing; capable of interpreting plans and specifications to create estimates.
- 5-7 years of relevant experience
- Experience with RFIs and Change Orders is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with estimating software such as Bluebeam, On-screen Takeoff, Timberline, or similar tools is advantageous.
