Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team. The Estimator will play a crucial role in preparing detailed cost assessments for various projects, ensuring that management has the necessary information for bid proposals and pricing strategies. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in developing cost estimates for construction-related projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather and analyze historical cost data to provide accurate estimates for current and future projects.
- Engage with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to discuss project requirements and resolve any issues related to estimates.
- Prepare comprehensive estimates to assist management in planning and scheduling work effectively.
- Review blueprints and project documentation to calculate time, cost, materials, and labor requirements.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and contractors to adjust cost estimates as necessary.
- Conduct thorough reviews of contract documents and project scopes.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site walk-throughs to gather relevant information.
- Perform quantitative take-offs and maintain accurate records of estimates.
- Draft scope letters and proposals for submission to clients.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, general contractors, and vendors.
- Conduct design/build and conceptual estimates as required.
- Coordinate with team members to ensure accurate take-offs and material requisitions.
- Ensure all estimating documents are securely stored in the company’s designated systems.
- Assist project managers with any pricing adjustments as projects evolve.
- Report critical issues to the Preconstruction Manager with suggested solutions.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in the construction industry.
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Strong understanding of construction processes and contract documentation.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Familiarity with estimating software such as Autobid Mechanical and Bluebeam.
