Position Overview

The EHS Field Operations Manager will exhibit leadership in articulating business objectives, programs, and processes for the Eastern region.

This role is pivotal in implementing, maintaining, and enhancing all facets of the company's Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) program, ensuring compliance with relevant federal, state, and local regulations. The position necessitates a robust background in problem-solving, as well as the ability to formulate and execute objectives for oneself and team members, influencing both short-term and long-term business goals and safe practices for our operations and clientele.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to a team of three EHS professionals, including goal setting, performance monitoring, and promoting professional growth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to synchronize EHS objectives with organizational strategies and initiatives.
  • Utilize influencing skills to cultivate a strong EHS culture valued by leadership across commercial, engineering, manufacturing, and field services.
  • Identify, develop, and drive process simplification and enhancements for the North America distributed workforce.
  • Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations, in addition to industry standards and best practices.
  • Recognize emerging EHS issues and trends, devising effective strategies to address them.
  • Design and deliver EHS training programs for employees, supervisors, and managers to elevate awareness and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Promote and adhere to procedures for reporting and investigating EHS incidents, including near-misses, accidents, and environmental spills.
  • Lead investigations into incidents to identify root causes, implement corrective measures, and prevent recurrence.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of facilities, worksites, and equipment to evaluate compliance with EHS regulations and company standards.
  • Act as the primary contact for EHS-related inquiries and communications for the North America East Field.
  • Support customer EHS inquiries and discussions related to field activities.
  • Lead or assist in special projects as assigned, including risk reduction initiatives, Gensuite management, and internal program audits.
  • Collaborate and mentor business team members to foster a culture that values inclusion and diversity.

Essential Skills:

  • A solid background in health and safety.
  • Proficiency in coaching and communicating EHS requirements across all organizational levels.
  • The ability to partner and influence across various functional teams.
  • Capacity to manage multiple shifting demands with professionalism and sound judgment while adapting to dynamic business and industry scenarios.
  • Strong listening skills and the ability to communicate ideas and solutions clearly and professionally.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the capability to motivate and inspire team members.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary to visit worksites and support team members.
  • Experience with root cause analysis methodologies (Apollo, FMEA, Bow-tie, Fishbone, Tap Root, etc.).
  • Demonstrated EHS risk recognition and auditing skills (project/field work).
Core Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in EHS, engineering, science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of proven EHS leadership experience with a focus on health and safety.
  • Routine travel is required.

  • The ability to remove obstacles or guide projects, engineering, and services teams to ensure work proceeds with high safety standards and awareness.
  • Building a trusting EHS culture where concerns can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or judgment, emphasizing results and problem-solving.
