Position Summary
The EHS Field Operations Manager will exhibit leadership in articulating business objectives, programs, and processes for the Eastern region.

This role is pivotal in executing, maintaining, and enhancing all facets of the organization's Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) program, ensuring compliance with relevant federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate will possess the experience and expertise necessary to address challenges, formulate and implement objectives for themselves and their team, and contribute to achieving both short-term and long-term business goals while ensuring safe practices for our operations and clientele.

Key Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to a team of three EHS professionals, including goal setting, performance monitoring, and fostering professional growth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to synchronize EHS objectives with organizational goals and initiatives.
  • Utilize influencing skills to cultivate a robust EHS culture valued by leadership across commercial, engineering, manufacturing, and field services.
  • Identify, develop, and drive process simplification and enhancement for the North American distributed workforce.
  • Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards and best practices.
  • Recognize emerging EHS issues and trends, developing effective strategies to address them.
  • Design and deliver EHS training programs for employees, supervisors, and managers to enhance awareness and compliance with safety protocols.
  • Establish and uphold procedures for reporting and investigating EHS incidents, including near-misses, accidents, and environmental spills.
  • Lead investigations into incidents to determine root causes, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of facilities, worksites, and equipment to evaluate compliance with EHS regulations and company standards.
  • Act as the primary contact for EHS-related inquiries and communications for the North American East Field.
  • Support customer EHS inquiries and discussions related to field activities.
  • Lead or assist in special projects as assigned, including risk reduction initiatives and internal program audits.
  • Collaborate and mentor business team members to foster a culture that values inclusion and diversity.

Qualifications
Who are we seeking?
The EHS Field Operations Manager must possess:

  • A solid background in health and safety.
  • Proficiency in coaching and communicating EHS requirements across all organizational levels.
  • The ability to partner and influence across various functional teams.
  • Capability to manage multiple shifting demands with professionalism and sound judgment while adapting to dynamic business and industry conditions.
  • Strong listening skills and the ability to articulate ideas and solutions clearly and professionally.
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to motivate and inspire team members.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information effectively to diverse audiences.
  • A willingness to travel as necessary to visit worksites and support team members.
  • Experience with root cause analysis methodologies (Apollo, FMEA, Bow-tie, Fishbone, Tap Root, etc.).
  • Demonstrated EHS risk recognition and auditing skills in project and field work.

Core Qualifications:
• A Bachelor's degree in EHS, engineering, science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience is required.
• A minimum of 5 years of proven EHS leadership experience with a focus on health and safety is essential.
• Routine travel is required.

• The ability to remove obstacles or guide projects, engineering, and services teams to ensure work proceeds with high safety standards and awareness.
• Building a trusting EHS culture where concerns can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or judgment, emphasizing results and problem-solving.
