Position Overview

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is seeking a dedicated Senior Procurement Officer to join our team. This role is pivotal in overseeing procurement processes for engineering professional services, ensuring that our transportation projects are supported by high-quality contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Procurement Leadership: Direct and manage procurement initiatives to secure contracts for engineering services that support statewide transportation activities.
  • Policy Guidance: Offer expert advice on contract administration, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and internal policies.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive procurement records and ensure all documentation meets established standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other procurement professionals and stakeholders to achieve common goals and enhance service delivery.
  • Contract Oversight: Act as the primary administrator for contracts, ensuring all terms and conditions are fulfilled.
  • Goods and Services Procurement: Facilitate the procurement of necessary goods and services, utilizing competitive bidding processes.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in applying procurement laws and regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills for evaluating procurement processes and making informed decisions.
  • Ability to lead teams and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Familiarity with automated procurement systems and e-procurement practices.

Additional Considerations

  • Possession of relevant procurement certifications is preferred.
  • A background in public administration or related fields is advantageous.
  • Experience in managing complex procurement projects is highly valued.
