Position Overview

AECOM is seeking a Lead Engineer in Water Resource Management (Civil/Stormwater) to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality projects, focusing on the management of water resource engineering services (civil/stormwater). Specialized knowledge in specific technologies or processes, the application of expertise to address business challenges, and the capacity to mentor peers and team members are essential.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrated experience in water resource engineering (civil/stormwater) encompassing planning, modeling, permitting, detailed design, and construction oversight.
  • Project management, including client relations, technical proposal writing, and report generation.
  • Team leadership, including supervision and mentoring of junior staff.
  • Collaborative work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Hydrologic, hydraulic, and stormwater modeling expertise.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years of proven experience with hydrologic, hydraulic, and stormwater principles and models (e.g., SWMM, HydroCAD, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and SRH2D).
  • Professional Engineering License.
  • Experience in site civil design and grading for stormwater management and related water resource engineering projects (e.g., flood control, drainage, culverts, bridges, wastewater, landfills).
  • Exceptional report writing skills and the ability to present complex technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Experience in technical project delivery, from proposal preparation to project management.
  • Strong project management track record.
  • Ability to coordinate and engage effectively with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior staff.
  • Ability to collaborate with a team across various technical disciplines.
  • Established relationships with clients in the Pacific Northwest and the ability to leverage these connections to enhance business growth.
  • Professional Engineer in Washington (or ability to obtain PE license within 6 months of hire).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D/Microstation and ArcGIS.
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local regulatory and permitting processes necessary for implementing stormwater management and other water resource/civil projects.
