Salem, Oregon, United States State of Oregon Full time
Position Overview:

Join Our Team as a Licensure Support Specialist

The Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) is responsible for setting the standards for educator licensure and issuing licenses that enable employment in public and charter schools across Oregon. With over 65,000 active educator licenses currently managed by TSPC, the agency also holds the authority to take disciplinary actions against license holders when investigations reveal violations of established standards.

As a Licensure Support Specialist, your primary role will be to deliver comprehensive licensure guidance to educators and the general public regarding TSPC's licensing criteria. You will assist applicants and licensees in navigating various license categories, endorsements, and application systems while ensuring compliance with licensure requirements. This position requires in-depth research and analysis of individual cases, applying and interpreting relevant rules and regulations to advise educators on suitable licensure pathways and options.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert technical assistance to users regarding licensing systems, including navigation and troubleshooting.
  • Update and maintain web content, develop newsletters, and create communication materials related to agency licensing operations.
  • Design and produce training resources for users of the licensing system.

Work Environment:

This position requires in-office presence to fulfill the agency's mission effectively. The standard working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a minimum of three years of experience in public engagement or customer service roles, comparable to that of a Public Service Representative. At least two years of this experience must involve direct interaction with the public, providing information about services, explaining rules and procedures, and assisting with compliance.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proven experience in administrative support roles requiring decision-making and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with attention to detail in grammar and punctuation.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions and varying deadlines.
  • Capacity to learn and understand agency programs, policies, and procedures relevant to the role.
  • Experience in handling confidential documents and information.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of inquiries effectively.
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.

Benefits of Employment:

Joining our team means working in a supportive environment with dedicated professionals. You will have opportunities to enhance your skills while serving educators and the public in licensure matters.

Additional benefits include:

  • Work-life balance and generous paid holidays.
  • Opportunities for career advancement and professional development.
  • Access to carpool matching tools and trip planning resources.
