Job Summary

The Power Plant Control Room Operator is a critical role at Veolia, responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our power plant systems. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for monitoring and controlling plant equipment, performing routine maintenance, and reporting any abnormalities to ensure continuous utility supply to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and maintain proper operation of all machinery, adhering to established practices and referring to operation and service manuals as needed.
  • Operate equipment to meet the requirements of utility customers, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Monitor and record pressures, temperatures, and fuel consumption on operating equipment, identifying and reporting any symptoms requiring maintenance action.
  • Observe, record, and interpret indications from instrumentation and control systems, calculating and evaluating findings to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Apply knowledge of hand and power tools, as well as general repair knowledge, to assist in the maintenance and repair of engines, boilers, compressors, pumps, and associated equipment.
  • Perform functional testing of plant systems and components, interpreting acceptability of data in comparison with established standards or sound power plant practices.
  • May be required to obtain certification to wear a full-face respirator.
  • Perform and promote work in a safe manner according to established safety procedures, reporting or rectifying any unsafe conditions.
  • Display willingness to work in a team environment, following directions and instructions from members of management.
  • Be present and ready to begin working at the designated time, and be available to work occasional scheduled or unscheduled overtime as required.
  • Be willing and able to work rotating shifts, including holidays, nights, and weekends.
  • Have the ability to interface diplomatically with other employees and the public.
  • Perform housekeeping duties as required.
  • Conduct on-the-job and classroom training on occasion, preparing lesson plans, handouts, visual aids, examinations, qualification standards, and other material related to employee training and development.
Requirements
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Relevant work experience in a power plant or related industry, with a strong understanding of plant operations and maintenance.
  • Ability to obtain certification to wear a full-face respirator, as required.
