Job Summary

As a Plant Operations Manager at Boar's Head Provisions Co., Inc., you will be responsible for directing and coordinating the activities of the plant, including meat manufacturing, sanitation, and distribution. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills to ensure effective production teams and team building.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure distributor/customer total satisfaction by taking all necessary measures.
  • Supervise daily operations of 1st shift manufacturing operations for the plant.
  • Direct subordinates engaged in production, sanitation, cooking, and chilling.
  • Build and maintain an effective supervisory team.
  • Exercise good leadership and communication skills.
  • Ensure effective production teams and team building.
  • Ensure all production requirements are met.
  • Analyze operations on a continual basis to improve costs, quality, and service.
  • Build an effective relationship with internal and external customers.
  • Actively participate in the research, justification, and implementation of long-range planning of the facility.
  • Establish goals for yourself and the operation.
  • Actively participate/support in the management of department functions, including production scheduling, purchasing, shipping and receiving, area sanitation, heat processing, product chilling, and other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.
  • Assist in the training and development of all employees in the area of responsibility, specifically supervisors and lead persons.
  • Ensure all sanitary, quality, and consistency requirements are met in the area of responsibility.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and maintenance of Total Quality Management (TQM) process.
  • Ensure goal attainment in the area of responsibility.
  • Direct and enforce the Safety Program in the area of responsibility.
  • Actively participate in capital expenditure requisitioning process, budgeting, and goal setting.
  • Ensure required preventive maintenance is being performed on all department equipment.
  • Ensure all rules, policies, and regulations of the Company are enforced.
  • Oversee the 1st shift support groups, including security, human resources, quality systems, maintenance, distribution, and first aid, to ensure good working relationships.
  • Approve 1st shift timekeeping and distribute payroll.
  • Responsible for working with the 2nd Night Manager on control of chemicals and dollars involved.
  • Attend the staff meeting on a daily basis and be a part of conducting the daily Supervisors meeting.
  • Ensure a smooth transition and communication system is in place between shifts.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or knowledge equivalent to such degree is required.
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years related industry experience required, preferably in food plant sanitation, smokehouse operations, and meat-processing production.
  • Exposure to and/or experience in Quality Assurance, Total Quality Management (TQM), Hazard Analysis Control Critical Process (HACCP), and Safety are a plus.
  • English/Spanish bilingual would be a plus.
