Key Responsibilities- Evaluate and maintain proper operation of all machinery, adhering to standard and established practices.
- Operate equipment to meet the requirements of utility customers, ensuring continuous supply.
- Monitor and record pressures, temperatures, and fuel consumption on operating equipment.
- Identify and inform appropriate individuals of symptoms requiring maintenance action.
- Observe, record, and interpret indications from instrumentation and control systems.
- Calculate, evaluate, and report findings, applying knowledge of hand and power tools and general repair knowledge.
- Perform functional testing of plant systems and components, interpreting acceptability of data in comparison with established standards or sound power plant practices.
- May be required to obtain certification to wear a full-face respirator.
- Perform and promote work in a safe manner according to established safety procedures, reporting or rectifying any unsafe conditions.
- Display willingness to work in a team environment, following directions and instructions from members of management.
- Be present and ready to begin working at the designated time, available to work occasional scheduled or unscheduled overtime, and willing to work rotating shifts, including holidays, nights, and weekends.
- Perform housekeeping duties as required, conducting on-the-job and classroom training on occasion.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- 3-5 years' experience in a process-related field, such as chemical industry, refinery, heating, generation, or any that would require a demonstrated aptitude for applying skills to an involved or complicated process.
- 1-3 years' journeyman level experience in a power plant environment with boilers, chillers, pumps, compressors, cooling towers, and water treatment.
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain certification to wear a full-face respirator.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and drawings, and procedures.
- Working knowledge of the maintenance of daily plant logs.
- Familiar with basic Microsoft Office products.
- Able to work rotating-shift assignments to support plant operations.
- Ability to hear and understand audible alarms, detect changes in noise levels of rotating equipment, and portable radio communication.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and carry materials up and down stairs with the capacity of lifting 50 pounds.
- Valid United States driver license.
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain forklift certification.
