Job Summary

Amentum is seeking a highly skilled Aircraft Mechanic I to join our team in support of U.S. Navy Aviation maintenance operations. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing complex aircraft systems, including power plants, engines, and auxiliary power units.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and diagnose malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces, and controls
  • Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures and functional components, including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units
  • Read and interpret technical publications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Perform progressive, phase, periodic, and other hourly, conditional, or calendar inspections
  • Test engine operation using testing equipment, such as ignition analyzers, compression checkers, and jet calibration testers
  • Adjust, repair, or replace electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories
  • Perform preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections
  • Enter maintenance records and verify work performed satisfactorily
Requirements
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Minimum five (5) years actual and recent organizational level F/A-18 aircraft maintenance experience
  • Three years prior F/A-18 A-F Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) or Quality Assurance Representative experience
  • Valid Virginia or North Carolina Driver's license (if North Carolina resident)
  • Completed military Aviation Electronics Technician AD "A" School
  • U.S. Navy 8341 NEC
  • Ability to read and interpret technical publications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Self-motivation and ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks
