At First Place for Youth, we are dedicated to supporting foster youth in their transition to adulthood. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Youth Advocate to join our team and make a positive impact on the lives of these young individuals.

Job Summary:

The Youth Advocate will provide case management, psycho-social assessment, and development of intervention strategies to support foster youth in achieving their goals of housing stability, sustainable employment, and educational achievement. This role requires strong clinical leadership skills, the ability to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team, and a commitment to cultural competency and diversity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual counseling, crisis intervention, referrals, advocacy, and life skills training to foster youth
  • Develop and implement individualized, strength-based, culturally competent, and youth-centered approaches to support foster youth
  • Collaborate with community providers, including county workers, courts, professionals, vocational and independent living skills programs, schools, family members, and significant others
  • Document all interactions with foster youth, including care and services plans, needs assessments, and progress notes
  • Participate in agency committees and provide ongoing orientation and training to staff as assigned
Requirements:
  • BA in social work, psychology, counseling, or equivalent required; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum four years of experience working in a child welfare social services setting or with transition age youth with complex presentations
  • Professional license a plus
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently, with a strong commitment to cultural competency and diversity
  • Valid CA driver's license and auto insurance
  • Computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and database systems
