Join First Place for Youth, a leading non-profit organization dedicated to supporting foster youth in their transition to adulthood. We're seeking a passionate and dedicated Youth Advocate to join our team.
About the Role:The Youth Advocate will provide case management, psycho-social assessment, and development of intervention strategies to support foster youth in achieving their goals. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide individual counseling, crisis intervention, referrals, advocacy, and life skills training to foster youth.
- Develop and implement individualized plans to support youth in achieving their goals, including housing stability, sustainable employment, and educational achievement.
- Collaborate with community providers, including county workers, courts, professionals, vocational and independent living skills programs, schools, family members, and significant others.
- Document all interactions and progress with foster youth, including care and services plans, needs assessments, and progress notes.
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field.
- Minimum four years of experience working in a child welfare social services setting or with transition age youth with complex presentations.
- Master's degree in a related field preferred.
- Professional license a plus.
- Ability to pass a Community Care Licensing background check.
- Valid California driver's license and auto insurance.
- Computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and database systems.
- 15 days of vacation time in the first year.
- 12 days of sick time.
