ROLE SUMMARY: Covenant House California is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Residential Services Coordinator to lead its Safe Haven Program. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication and organizational abilities to effectively manage, guide, and mentor a team of Youth Engagement Specialists. This role is crucial in delivering services that are rooted in strength-based, trauma-informed, and harm reduction principles, while embodying our commitment to providing respect and unconditional support to all young individuals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Team Management: Oversee and coordinate youth engagement services, ensuring that the support provided by Youth Engagement Specialists is respectful and trauma-informed.
- Staff Development: Provide direct supervision, training, and mentorship to Youth Engagement Specialists and Youth Safety Advocates, including recruitment and onboarding of new team members.
- Operational Leadership: Collaborate with the Safe Haven Director to manage daily operations of the emergency shelter program, ensuring compliance with organizational policies.
- Scheduling: Assist in creating and managing staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage at all times.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of staff timesheets and ensure compliance with timekeeping policies.
- Program Development: Facilitate community-building activities and encourage feedback from young people to enhance program offerings.
- Crisis Management: Provide crisis intervention as necessary, ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: A Bachelor's degree in human services is preferred, though relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
EXPERIENCE: Candidates should have experience working with youth facing homelessness or other vulnerabilities, with a minimum of 1-3 years in a supervisory role within a residential setting.
SKILLS: Strong knowledge of adolescent development, crisis intervention techniques, and trauma-informed care is essential. Excellent organizational and communication skills are required.
TRANSPORTATION: A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are necessary for this role.
WORK CONDITIONS: This is a full-time position requiring participation in an on-call rotation.
