PROCESS OPERATIONS SPECIALIST

Boston Metal is at the forefront of pioneering extractive metallurgy technology aimed at transforming primary metals production. Our innovative approach enhances metal quality while reducing costs and minimizing environmental impact. As we expand our Operations team, we seek a dedicated professional to assist in the development and management of our Molten Oxide Electrolysis (MOE) cells for molten metal production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support engineering initiatives related to the balance of plant development.
  • Oversee and participate in shift operations, including monitoring MOE cells and collecting molten metal and slag samples at scheduled intervals.
  • Assist in tapping and feeding operations, as well as in the rebuilding and commissioning of cells.
  • Conduct analysis of MOE Cell samples and contribute to the creation of written procedures and protocols.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Materials, or Chemical Engineering, with a focus on materials science, process engineering, or chemistry.
  • Proficiency in Computer Aided Design (CAD), preferably Solidworks.
  • Experience with CAD and PDM administration.
  • Background in Materials Science and Chemical Engineering thermodynamics.
  • Ability to work effectively in small teams within a startup environment.
  • Familiarity with technical drawings and diagrams, including parts, electrical diagrams, and P&ID's.

Work Schedule:

6-4 Shift Pattern

1st Shift: 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM

2nd Shift: 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM

3rd Shift: 11:00 PM to 9:00 AM

This position requires working six consecutive days for ten hours each day, followed by four days off. After the off period, shifts will rotate to the next time slot.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as mandated by specific tasks, including masks, gloves, safety shoes, and protective clothing.
  • Regularly required to use hands for handling, reaching, and communicating.
  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing, and sitting without assistance.
  • Occasional lifting and moving of items up to 55 pounds.
  • Vision capabilities must include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

This role involves potential exposure to hazardous chemicals and extreme temperatures, with risks mitigated through adherence to safety protocols and the use of PPE. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.
