Job Description

Boyd Company, a leading manufacturer of high-performance cooling products, is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Process Engineer to join our Engineering department. As a Process Engineer, you will play a critical role in improving process yield and consistency, developing new products, and creating high-quality drawings documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Determine Optimum Processes: Develop and implement optimal weld processes, braze recipes, and heat treat cycles to meet customer requirements.
  • Analyze and Improve Processes: Review and analyze historical yield and process data for the weld, heat treat, and braze processes, and execute process improvement actions to improve stability and consistency.
  • Design and Conduct Experiments: Design and conduct designed experiments (DOEs) to determine the process parameters that impact finished product, and implement controls on key parameters.
  • Write Work Instructions: Develop and write work instructions to drive consistent results.
  • Design and Validate Fixtures: Design and validate fixtures and tooling to support braze, weld, and heat treat processes.
  • Conduct Process Failure Analyses: Conduct process failure analyses to determine root cause and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Maintain pFMEAs: Maintain process failure mode and effects analysis (pFMEA) for each process based on the types of failures, frequency of occurrence, and ease of detection.
  • Support NADCAP Compliance: Support NADCAP compliance and ensure that all processes meet the required standards.
  • Apply Lean Principles: Apply lean principles to improve factory operations and reduce waste.
  • Participate in Design Reviews: Participate in design reviews to ensure that process risks are reduced to the lowest reasonable level.
Requirements:
  • 0-5 years of experience in a materials science role, preferably with direct experience in brazing or TIG welding.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • Experience with CAD, MRP software, military specifications, and AS9100 is also important.
