Job Overview

Unarmed Security Officers are responsible for maintaining logs, monitoring visitor access, and ensuring the safety and security of facilities while preventing unauthorized access.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor for any irregularities or unusual situations that may pose security risks or safety concerns.
  • Conduct security patrols of assigned areas on foot.
  • Report incidents to the appropriate authorities following established protocols.
  • Assist in the prompt reporting of emergencies and provide guidance and information to employees, visitors, and guests.
  • Address rule violations, such as loitering or congregating in large groups.
  • Observe the arrival and departure of staff to ensure public safety and security.
  • Investigate and document accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities.
  • Maintain written logs as required by the position.
  • Provide courteous and professional assistance to customers, employees, and visitors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screening is required.
  • Flexibility regarding work schedules and environments is essential.
  • A valid driver's license or reliable transportation is necessary.
  • Ability to respond swiftly to changing situations is crucial.
  • Advanced skills in addressing security breaches and threats are required.
  • Comfort with kneeling, carrying, bending, walking, and standing for extended periods is expected.
  • Attention to detail and a professional demeanor are essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to work independently, are required.
  • Proficiency in using cell phones, texting, MS Word/Excel, and standard email systems is necessary.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preference will be given to residents of the Greater Boston area.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a similar capacity is preferred.
  • Familiarity with security systems and surveillance technology is advantageous.
  • Certifications in CPR, FIRST AID, AED, NARCAN, MOAB, or ACT I, II, or III are highly desirable.
  • An Associate's degree or higher in Criminal Justice-related fields is preferred.
  • Experience in documentation, observation, customer service, and security protocols is beneficial.
  • Previous experience in concierge services is an asset.
