Position Overview: The Senior Risk Management Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the Senior Vice President of Risk in the formulation, execution, and coordination of the risk management framework at Ob Hospitalist Group. The primary aim is to mitigate the organization's overall risk exposure while engaging in clinical safety and quality enhancement initiatives. This position is integral to the organization's core risk management functions, which encompass: (1) Involvement in clinical recruitment processes, (2) Conducting risk management and quality-related onboarding activities as part of the SAFE Program services, (3) Performing hospital-specific risk evaluations and assessing program effectiveness through site visits and risk assessments, (4) Collaborating with operational and clinical management on hospital quality metrics and risk-sharing negotiations, as well as performance monitoring. The Senior Risk Management Specialist will work closely with hospital programs and leadership, in conjunction with Directors of Hospital Operations, Site Directors, and Medical Directors of Operations, to enhance overall risk and quality improvement processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the objectives and initiatives of the SAFE program are effectively implemented and embraced across hospital partners.
  • Collaborate directly with the Director of Hospital Operations, Site Directors, and Medical Directors of Operations to identify specific program risk and quality requirements, supporting local leadership in driving quality enhancements and risk mitigation.
  • Deliver tailored solutions such as on-site risk evaluations or educational sessions, as needed and requested by hospital partners.
  • Conduct annual or biannual SAFE reviews with hospital partners, focusing on specific SAFE risk and quality data, trends, and areas for improvement.
  • Assist in the development and upkeep of the Risk Management and Quality Department, including SAFE services, OBHG University, Patient Advocacy Committee (PAC), training resources, and educational materials.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Risk Management or Quality within the healthcare sector.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficient in working independently and collaboratively with staff, physicians, hospital administrators, and vendors.
  • Capacity to excel in a dynamic, unstructured work environment, demonstrating self-direction in work initiatives and autonomous problem-solving.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Clinical education and acute care experience (e.g., RN).
  • Certification in Risk Management (e.g., CPHRM).
Mental and Physical Requirements:
  • Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting are necessary, with more than 66% of the time (5.5+ hours/day). Travel is required approximately 10-25% of the time.
Compensation: Annual salary range of $110,000 - $125,000, commensurate with experience.
