Overview: The Director of Model Risk Management is a pivotal position within the organization, tasked with the responsibility of directing and executing model risk management strategies and protocols. This role necessitates collaboration with multiple departments to ensure adherence to regulatory standards and to maintain a comprehensive model inventory.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Finance, or a related quantitative discipline
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in Banking, Risk Management, or Quantitative Analysis
- Knowledge of DFAST stress testing regulations
- Comprehension of essential risk management principles
- Proficiency in interpreting and applying SR 11-7 guidelines
- Skill in programming languages such as R, Python, and SQL
- Outstanding communication abilities
- Capacity to work collaboratively and deliver exceptional service
- Commitment to upholding the values of United Community Bank
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee model risk throughout its lifecycle, including validation and performance assessment
- Assist in the upkeep of the model inventory in accordance with the Model Risk Management Policy
- Contribute to the design, testing, and implementation of models
- Conduct independent evaluations of models for various purposes, including stress testing and compliance
- Engage in effective challenge and validation processes
- Coordinate with external parties for validation exercises
- Critically assess model assumptions and their implementation
- Present validation results to senior management and regulatory bodies
- Participate in reporting initiatives to fulfill regulatory obligations
- Lead Model Risk Management initiatives to strengthen the framework
Supervisory Responsibility: This position includes the management and development of team members.
Work Environment: This role is based in a United location within the operational footprint.
Position Type: Full-time role with flexibility for evening and weekend commitments.
Travel: Up to 25% travel may be required.
