Position Overview

The Senior Director for Alumni Engagement is accountable to the Associate Vice President for Alumni and Community Engagement, overseeing the execution of a holistic engagement strategy aimed at fostering meaningful volunteerism, service opportunities, and professional development for alumni. This role is pivotal in enhancing alumni loyalty and support for the institution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Primary Liaison: Act as the main contact for the Alumni Association, ensuring robust communication and relationship-building with university stakeholders.
  • Operational Management: Supervise daily operations of the Alumni Association, including budget oversight and resource management, ensuring compliance with organizational policies.
  • Financial Management: Oversee budgetary aspects for operational and scholarship funds, ensuring financial health and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Board Collaboration: Partner with the Alumni Association Board of Directors to align initiatives with institutional goals and facilitate effective policy implementation.
  • Meeting Facilitation: Collaborate with the Board President to prepare agendas for meetings, ensuring productive discussions and strategic decision-making.
  • Sub-committee Engagement: Work with sub-committee chairs to align agenda items with overarching objectives of the Alumni Association.
  • Strategic Development: Collaborate with the Associate Vice President to create a comprehensive plan for enhancing alumni interaction and engagement.
  • Program Innovation: Lead the development and evaluation of programs and events that strengthen connections between alumni, students, and faculty.
  • Promotional Initiatives: Support the execution of events that elevate the visibility of the university and the Alumni Association.
  • Membership Strategy: Partner with relevant directors to implement a comprehensive membership campaign to engage alumni effectively.
  • Collaborative Partnerships: Build strong relationships within the university to advance collective goals and enhance the alumni experience.
  • Leadership Development: Recruit and mentor staff within the Alumni Engagement team, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Staff Oversight: Provide guidance and support to key staff members, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in alumni relations or advancement.
  • Experience managing volunteer boards or committees.
  • Demonstrated leadership in alumni engagement activities.

Compensation

Classification: Administrator III
Anticipated Hiring Range: Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
