Responsibilities

The role involves the operation and management of two dams along with the corresponding power generation facility and switchyard (115KV and 230KV). Key responsibilities include overseeing the operation of four 75 MW generating and condensing units, as well as associated auxiliary systems and water release mechanisms. Operations may be conducted through manual, automated, or computer-controlled methods.
- Reviews and implements generation, pumping, and water release schedules while making adjustments within established operational parameters. Processes clearance requests and executes necessary placements.
- Develops and issues switching protocols, clearances, and special condition tags.
- Conducts operational inspections of the power generation facility, switchyard, dams, and other related infrastructures and equipment.
- Monitors service board meters and data reporting systems, recording and analyzing data to compile standardized reports. Responds to alarm signals and takes appropriate actions to safeguard personnel, equipment, and facilities.
- Serves as a communication link for mobile units, remote locations, other project facilities, and Reclamation interests. In emergency scenarios, directs the activities of both operational and maintenance teams.

A valid State Driver's License must be maintained at all times, as the position requires operation of government vehicles on public roads. Failure to maintain a valid State Driver's License will result in removal from the position.
A successful pre-employment physical examination by a licensed physician is required to certify the ability to perform the duties of this position. If a comparable agency-approved examination was conducted within the last 12 months, a new physical exam may not be necessary. The agency will reimburse the cost of the exam.

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate sufficient experience and training to fulfill the responsibilities of this position with minimal supervision. Qualifications will be assessed based on the information provided in the resume and responses to assessment questions. Minimum qualifications for trades and labor positions are determined through evaluation of job elements. Candidates must achieve at least 2 points on the screen-out element(s) and an average of at least 2 points across all job elements to be considered qualified for this position.

Experience includes both paid and unpaid work, including volunteer activities through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work contributes to essential competencies, knowledge, and skills, providing valuable training and experience that directly translates to paid employment. Credit will be given for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

All requirements, including any selective placement factors if applicable, must be met.

Education

This position does not permit the substitution of education for experience.
