Job Overview

Position Summary:

Under the guidance of the Director of Shelter Services, this role is pivotal in delivering empathetic and high-quality case management support to families within the FamilyAid Community-Based Shelter framework. The Supervisor will lead a team of Case Managers, employing a two-generation (2Gen) and trauma-informed care methodology to create and execute strategies that facilitate families' transition from temporary shelter to stable, permanent housing. These strategies will adhere to the policies, guidelines, and timelines set forth by the program and the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (EOHLC).

The Supervisor will also champion the Case Managers in ensuring families have access to essential resources and are connected to 2Gen support systems, aiming to foster housing stability and mitigate multigenerational poverty.

This position necessitates proficient management and oversight of the Case Managers' documentation and data maintenance to comply with EOHLC, FamilyAid, and program standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exemplify and promote strong ethical standards, integrity, and accountability aligned with FamilyAid's mission and values.
  • Guide and motivate staff towards the fulfillment of FamilyAid's mission, vision, values, and strategic objectives.
  • Ensure that Case Managers are trained in and consistently apply trauma-informed care principles.
  • Oversee the effectiveness of Case Managers in assessing families' strengths and needs, and in formulating service plans that align with the housing objectives established by families, staff, and EOHLC.
  • Collaborate with Housing Placement colleagues to ensure timely execution of plans within the nine-month EOHLC shelter limit protocols.
  • Provide ongoing case management support to families, adapting services to meet their evolving needs and achieving stability in permanent housing.
  • Lead initiatives to address and reduce two-generation homelessness, fostering partnerships with 2Gen colleagues to enhance family engagement with external services.
  • Ensure thorough intakes for newly arriving families at FamilyAid shelter programs as necessary.
  • Manage team documentation to ensure compliance with FamilyAid and EOHLC guidelines, including but not limited to Clarity, ETO, and Case Management Service plans.
  • Guarantee the delivery of high-quality services to families in community-based shelters and those transitioning to permanent housing, focusing on long-term stability.
  • Supervise case management staff and develop a network of local resources to assist families.
  • Introduce and oversee new family and child-centered programs at shelter sites.
  • Provide interventions to assist families with problem-solving and crisis management.
  • Respond to crises in accordance with agency protocols related to incident reporting and child safety.
  • Maintain a consistent presence at assigned sites, ensuring accessibility to program participants and staff.
  • Manage a direct service caseload as needed.
  • Foster strong relationships with property management to support shelter operations.
  • Act as a liaison between property management and FamilyAid regarding program operations and compliance.
  • Coordinate with property management and staff to address client-related matters.
  • Oversee family transitions in and out of shelter sites, ensuring seamless processes.
  • Maintain an accurate bed registry for assigned shelter sites.
  • Collaborate with partners on client-specific situations as required.
  • Assign and manage staff workloads effectively.
  • Oversee internal and external resources.
  • Participate in leadership roles in staff and team meetings.
  • Identify and exceed internal and external expectations.
  • Foster a diplomatic, inclusive, and transparent work environment.
  • Contribute positively to collaborative efforts to achieve agency goals.
  • Recruit and train case management staff.
  • Conduct ongoing performance evaluations of direct reports.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping in compliance with program standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information.
  • Collaborate with external organizations to ensure child safety and well-being.
  • Represent FamilyAid professionally at various community engagements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required; MSW and LICSW preferred.
  • Preferred supervisory experience in a social services organization.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a social service setting.
  • Experience with property management staff preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse homeless population in various settings.
  • Flexibility and compassion are essential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in a Trauma-Informed Care setting is strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of de-escalation techniques preferred.
  • Dependable, adaptable, and able to manage stress effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Access to reliable transportation is required.
  • CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification.

Supervision: Reports to the Director of Community-Based Programs, Vice President of Programs, Chief Operating Officer.

Work Schedule: Full-time, exempt position with a Monday-Friday schedule, requiring flexibility to meet client needs.
