Position Overview

The Liability Claims Adjuster operates under minimal to intermediate supervision to effectively resolve claims. This involves assessing coverage, investigating incidents, evaluating losses, and negotiating settlements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review claims documentation, including forms, policies, endorsements, and client instructions to ascertain coverage.
  • Conduct thorough investigations by interviewing claimants, policyholders, and witnesses.
  • Establish loss reserves as necessary.
  • Compile reports by gathering and summarizing essential information for clients and regulatory bodies.
  • Negotiate settlements by assessing the insurance carrier's liability, adhering to client instructions, and managing the necessary authority levels.
  • Issue settlement payments, file necessary documents with regulatory agencies, manage salvage, and pursue subrogation when applicable.
  • Monitor and control claims-related expenses.
  • Maintain an expected caseload efficiently.
  • Uphold the company's reputation and the integrity of insurance products by adhering to federal and state regulations, service standards, and client requirements.
  • Enhance professional and technical expertise through ongoing education.

Qualifications

  • Possession of a valid adjuster's license in New York State.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening, criminal background checks, and motor vehicle record evaluations.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle and proof of auto insurance meeting the required liability limits ($100,000/$300,000).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong communication skills, organizational capabilities, technical knowledge, and proficiency in computer usage.
