Opportunity Overview
WSP is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Project Manager specializing in Claims Review with a strong foundation in Civil Engineering. This role will be integral to our Project Management and Construction Management (PMCM) Team, contributing to various projects and ensuring we meet our clients' needs effectively.
Your Contributions
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the New York State Office of General Services (OGS) Project Manager as required.
- Conduct schedule analysis and review using Primavera P6.
- Evaluate contractor claims per contractual agreements and assess their validity.
- Manage and track delay claims on a daily basis.
- Audit contractor claim costs, including payroll and invoices, and negotiate settlements.
- Facilitate meetings to discuss claims with design and construction teams.
- Analyze project history for forensic delay assessments, including documentation and correspondence.
- Provide monthly reports on critical and problematic projects to executive management.
- Prepare independent cost estimates and evaluate third-party estimates.
- Utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) proficiently.
- Support price negotiations and gather quotes for necessary materials and services.
- Perform cost estimating and budgeting tasks, establishing project costs before visual representation.
- Break down work items logically to determine costs based on experience and historical data.
- Review specifications and drawings to calculate total construction costs using labor, materials, and equipment pricing.
- Assist OGS project management in preparing schedules for estimates and reviews.
- Assign costs to materials and labor in project takeoffs.
- Verify actual hourly rates and overhead expenses in compliance with FAR guidelines.
- Review contracts and modifications to assess scope changes and related cost estimates.
- Prepare detailed estimates for tasks and subtasks, applying standard calculations.
- Assist in developing independent cost estimates for change order proposals.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Occasional travel may be required for meetings or training; a valid driver's license is necessary.
Who You Are:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or Business.
- 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in Cost Estimating.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Valid driver's license; occasional regional travel may be necessary.
- Availability for alternate work hours as needed.
- Commitment to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies.
- Proven ability to maintain workplace safety and adhere to health and safety policies.
- This position is subject to client-mandated drug/alcohol testing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Cost Works/Equipment Watch.
- OSHA 30 Hour certification is required.
- Knowledge of NYS Building Code is advantageous.
Compensation and Benefits:

Expected Salary: $81,800 - $142,600
This compensation range reflects WSP's commitment to fair pay based on education, experience, and internal equity.
