Opportunity Overview

WSP is actively seeking a dedicated Full-Time Project Manager within the Claims Review Unit, emphasizing a Civil Engineering background. This role is crucial for our PMCM Team, contributing to a dynamic organization that addresses client needs and resolves challenges effectively.

Your Responsibilities

As a Project Manager, your duties will include:

  • Assisting the New York State Office of General Services (OGS) Project Manager as required.
  • Conducting schedule analysis and interpretation using Primavera P6.
  • Evaluating Contractor's claims per contractual agreements to assess their validity.
  • Managing and tracking delay claims on a daily basis.
  • Auditing contractor claim costs, including payrolls and invoices, while negotiating settlements.
  • Facilitating fact-finding meetings with design and construction teams to review claims.
  • Analyzing project history for forensic delay assessments, including minutes, schedules, and correspondence.
  • Reporting on critical and problematic projects to executive staff monthly or as needed.
  • Preparing independent cost estimates and evaluating third-party estimates.
  • Utilizing Office Suite applications proficiently (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Supporting price negotiations and sourcing quotes for materials and services.
  • Conducting cost estimating and budgeting functions, including conceptual estimating.
  • Breaking down work items to determine costs based on experience and summarizing totals.
  • Using estimating software under the guidance of senior estimators to prepare detailed estimates.
  • Calculating total construction costs based on specifications, drawings, and historical data.
  • Assisting OGS project management in preparing schedules for estimates and reviews.
  • Assigning material and staffing costs to takeoffs.
  • Verifying actual hourly rates and overhead expenses in line with FAR guidelines.
  • Reviewing contractual documents for scope changes and cost estimates.
  • Preparing task and subtask estimates, including rate and unit cost determinations.
  • Assisting in the preparation of independent cost estimates for change order proposals.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
  • Occasional travel for meetings or training may be necessary; a valid driver's license is required.

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or Business.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in Cost Estimating.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license with potential for regional travel.
  • Flexibility to work alternate hours as needed.
  • Commitment to WSP's Code of Conduct and policies.
  • Ability to uphold workplace safety and adhere to health and safety policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Cost Works/Equipment Watch.
  • OSHA 30 Hour certification.
  • Knowledge of NYS Building Code.

Compensation and Benefits:

WSP offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, and retirement savings, aimed at providing health and financial stability throughout your career.

Expected Salary: $81,800 - $142,600

This compensation range reflects WSP's good faith belief regarding the potential pay for this position based on the successful applicant's qualifications and experience. WSP reserves the right to adjust compensation based on various factors.
