Position Overview: The Senior Vice President, Trust and Estate Management will operate under the general guidance of the Director of Trust and Estate Management. This role is pivotal in all aspects of formulating, executing, and overseeing the estate and trust affairs of the Crow family. Crow Holdings is in search of an experienced professional eager to thrive in a dynamic, high-volume, and multi-faceted environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the operations of the private trust company, which includes managing trust investments, preparing materials and minutes for board and committee meetings, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing trust reports to beneficiaries.
  2. Facilitate the creation and execution of estate plans for family members, ensuring that these plans align with their current wishes, circumstances, and applicable laws.
  3. Collaborate with external legal counsel on the planning, execution, and administration of trusts and estate plans.
  4. Assist in the establishment and structuring of trusts in partnership with outside legal advisors, focusing on key elements such as situs, trustees, beneficiaries, funding, and other pertinent terms.
  5. Manage family foundations, ensuring compliance with tax regulations in their administration.
  6. Support the structuring and management of marital property agreements.
  7. Oversee the administration of estates, including probate processes, estate settlement, and coordination with both internal and external tax, legal, and valuation experts on estate tax filings.
  8. Contribute to the planning and execution of family business ownership structures as they pertain to trust and estate management.
  9. Administer the life insurance program, which includes managing existing policies and overseeing underwriting for new or terminated policies.
  10. Collaborate with various Crow Holdings departments (legal, tax, accounting, financial reporting, treasury) as necessary regarding trust and estate management matters.
  11. Attend to additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

  • CPA designation with 4-5+ years of experience in a prominent accounting firm.
  • Experience in advising clients on trust and estate issues, including planning, execution, documentation, and administration is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with private trust companies and regulatory bodies is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn about state and federal laws and strategies relevant to trusts, estate planning, marital agreements, and exempt organizations.
  • Understanding of income tax regulations for individuals, trusts, and flow-through entities to ensure proper integration with trust and estate planning.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience with document management systems is beneficial.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High sensitivity to the confidential nature of the subject matter.
  • Commitment to meeting deadlines and flexibility in managing time effectively.
  • Attention to detail while maintaining a comprehensive perspective.
  • Able to function in a fast-paced environment while ensuring an organized workflow.
