Position Title: Financial Operations Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY

The Financial Operations Specialist is a proactive professional adept in utilizing analytical skills. This role involves the preparation and examination of financial documents, reports, and statements. The Financial Operations Specialist will collaborate with the Business Office to oversee financial activities, assist with budget development, and provide financial guidance. Additionally, this position will support the campus community, including students, by addressing inquiries related to financial accounts through the appropriate channels.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in the generation of financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with the monthly closing timeline;
  • Manage accounting, analysis, and reporting functions related to payroll;
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts;
  • Analyze financial statements monthly and report on discrepancies;
  • Support financial and tax audits;
  • Assist in fulfilling University reporting obligations;
  • Evaluate and suggest improvements to accounting systems and processes;
  • Review accounting documents to verify the accuracy of information and calculations across various ledgers, registers, journals, and logs, making necessary corrections;
  • Serve as a backup for the monthly reconciliation of investment accounts;
  • Examine quarterly fixed asset schedules and journal entries in the general and fixed asset subsidiary ledgers;
  • Oversee the Payroll communication channels;
  • Engage in additional projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • Strong grasp of accounting principles
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or finance
  • Experience in fund accounting or within higher education is preferred
  • Three years of payroll experience is preferred
  • Familiarity with Jenzabar CX is advantageous

  • Experience with PC-based accounting software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook
  • Commitment to the Mission and Vision of the University.

SUPERVISION

  • This position reports to the Controller.

SALARY RANGE

  • $50,000 – 55,000 Annually, plus benefits.

POSITION STATUS

  • Full-time; in-person.
