Position Overview

The role of the Laboratory Billing Clerk is essential in ensuring accurate and efficient billing processes within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage and respond to incoming phone inquiries professionally.
  • Thoroughly review and finalize all requisitions to confirm that all patient demographics, including contact details, insurance data, diagnoses, and other relevant information, are complete. Ensure to maintain copies of all finalized requisitions.
  • Monitor all outstanding requisitions sent from the billing department, ensuring they are completed and documented.
  • Contact patients to obtain any missing forms necessary for billing.
  • Compile and forward all payment documentation, including EOBs, RA's, Medicare payments, checks, and credit card transactions, to the billing office.
  • Verify the hospital's admission records against the billing records to prevent any compliance issues.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
  • Proficient in basic computer operations.
  • Exhibit strong telephone communication skills.
  • Possess excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrate evaluative and interpretive skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for extended periods (up to 8 hours per day).
  • Ability to walk continuously (up to 8 hours per day).
  • Capability for intermittent bending, squatting, and climbing.
  • Manual dexterity for simple grasping tasks.
