Position Title: Medical Billing Specialist

Company: LHH Recruitment Solutions

Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Medical Billing Specialist to join our team. This role is essential for managing follow-up and collections while ensuring accurate claims processing.

Location: This position is fully onsite.


Compensation: $21-24 per hour, with a potential sign-on bonus.

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6am-4pm, with flexibility.

Job Type: Direct Hire


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assign appropriate codes to medical services and diagnoses for billing and reimbursement.
  • Collect and verify patient information, including demographics, insurance details, and medical history.
  • Prepare and submit claims to insurance providers and government agencies for payment.
  • Follow up on unpaid claims, resolve denials, and resubmit claims as necessary.
  • Communicate with patients to address billing inquiries and discuss payment options.
  • Stay updated on healthcare regulations, insurance policies, and billing practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and patient information.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare laws and regulations regarding billing and privacy.
  • Demonstrate expertise in insurance collections, including negotiating payment plans and managing correspondence.
  • Assist patients with collection efforts, including eligibility assessments for charity programs and payment arrangements.
  • Conduct thorough account reviews, including tracking missing information and updating insurance details.
  • Possess a solid understanding of HCPCS, CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding, as well as medical terminology.
  • Recognize billing requirements for various payers and provide education to staff on billing prerequisites.
  • Understand insurance regulations, including CMS guidelines, to effectively communicate with payers regarding claims.
  • Adhere to the Company's Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) policies.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Undergraduate degree or relevant certifications are preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in medical billing and collections is required.
  • Basic proficiency in Excel is necessary.
