Position: Medical Billing Coordinator - Follow-up and Collections

Are you committed to accuracy in healthcare financial management? LHH Recruitment Solutions is looking for a full-time Medical Billing Coordinator to join our team. This position emphasizes diligent follow-up and collections, ensuring efficient claims processing.

Location: Onsite

Compensation: $21-24 per hour, with potential sign-on bonus

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6am-4pm (flexible)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurate coding of medical procedures and diagnoses for billing and reimbursement.
  • Thorough collection and verification of patient information, including demographics and insurance details.
  • Preparation and submission of claims to insurance providers and government entities for payment processing.
  • Proactive management of unpaid claims, addressing denials, resolving issues, and resubmitting claims as necessary.
  • Engagement with patients to address inquiries and concerns regarding billing and payment options.
  • Staying informed on healthcare regulations, insurance policies, and billing practices.
  • Maintaining accurate records of financial transactions and patient information.
  • Ensuring compliance with healthcare laws and regulations related to billing and privacy.
  • Expertise in insurance collections, including negotiation of payment arrangements and correspondence management.
  • Handling patient communications to support collection efforts, including assessing eligibility for assistance programs.
  • Conducting comprehensive account reviews, identifying missing information, and updating records according to billing policies.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in HCPCS, CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding, medical terminology, and clinical documentation.
  • Understanding billing requirements for various payers and assisting in staff training on billing prerequisites.
  • Knowledge of insurance regulations to effectively communicate with payers regarding claims processing.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Undergraduate Degree or relevant certifications (preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in medical billing and collections (required)
  • Basic proficiency in Excel (required)
