Position Overview

The Laboratory Billing Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of billing processes within United Westlabs. This position involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at maintaining effective communication and organization within the billing department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and respond to incoming telephone inquiries.
  • Thoroughly review and finalize all requisitions to guarantee that all necessary information, including patient demographics, insurance details, and diagnoses, is complete. Ensure copies of completed requisitions are maintained.
  • Monitor and follow up on any incomplete requisitions received from the billing office, ensuring they are finalized and documented.
  • Contact patients to obtain any missing forms to complete their files.
  • Prepare and forward all payment documentation, including EOBs, RA's, Medicare payments, checks, and credit card transactions, to the billing office.
  • Verify the hospital's admission records against the billing roster to prevent any compliance issues.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficient in basic computer operations.
  • Exhibit professional telephone communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capable of evaluative and interpretive tasks.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods (up to 8 hours per day).
