Senior Research Grant Administrator

Job Overview
The Senior Research Grant Administrator (RGA) operates under minimal supervision, collaborating closely with the Department Manager and/or Principal Investigator (PI) to oversee and manage all aspects of pre- and post-award grant administration within the unit. This role acts as a vital link between various departments, research teams, Sponsored Research Funds Administration (SRFA), and financial departments.
Key Responsibilities
+ Conducts comprehensive pre-award and post-award financial projections, account reconciliations, cost transfers, progress reports, budget modifications, salary allocation assessments, time and effort management reporting, and purchase order reconciliations.
+ Engages in financial analysis and forecasting to pinpoint significant variances, develop logical conclusions, and propose alternative solutions as necessary.
+ Reviews grant applications and manages post-award activities, devising logical solutions to complex or unprecedented challenges, and presenting actionable recommendations to leadership.
+ Oversees all deliverables, including invoices and subcontract documentation, while managing intricate financial reporting processes and ensuring fiscal accountability for salaries, supplies, and subcontract costs.
+ Provides mentorship and training to grant management personnel.
Qualifications
Experience:
+ Demonstrated expertise in grant administration with a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in pre and post-award research grant management or equivalent education and experience.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a solid grasp of federal and major funding agency grant submission protocols.
+ Familiarity with multi-PI proposals and experience in preparing essential grant submission components, including progress and financial reports.
+ Proficient in crafting scientific manuscripts and abstracts.
+ Experience with eRA commons, NIH RePORTER, Federal Reporter, and other relevant proposal submission platforms.
+ Background in a laboratory setting or a sponsored research office is highly desirable.
Education:
+ High School Diploma or GED is required; a Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
