Position Overview:
Under general supervision, the Senior Research Grant Administrator collaborates with the Department Manager and/or Principal Investigator (PI) to oversee and facilitate all aspects of pre- and post-award grant management processes within the unit.

Key Responsibilities:
Acts as a vital link between various departments, research teams, Sponsored Research Funds Administration (SRFA), and finance departments. This role includes:
- Conducting thorough reviews of proposal technical sections to ensure compliance with requirements.
- Preparing and reviewing budgets for accuracy and completeness, leveraging knowledge of grant financial structures and restrictions.

Monitors expenditures, conducts reconciliations, and prepares financial reports related to both federal and non-federal grants, ensuring adherence to regulations set by federal, state, and local agencies, including the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Institutional Review Board.

Additionally, the administrator prepares and processes internal documentation for signatures, collaborating with PIs and SRFA staff to ensure timely submission of all required deliverables, such as:
- Federal Financial Reports (FFRs)
- No Cost Extensions
- Fund Carry Forward requests
- Execution of subcontracts.

Essential Duties:
Independently manages all aspects of pre-award and post-award financial activities, including:
- Monthly financial projections
- Account reconciliations
- Cost transfers
- Progress reports
- Budget modifications
- Salary allocation reviews
- Time and effort management reporting
- Purchase order reconciliations
- Monitoring of project milestones.

Conducts financial analysis and forecasting to identify variances, draw logical conclusions, and propose alternative solutions as needed. Reviews grant applications and oversees post-award management, developing effective solutions for complex issues and presenting actionable recommendations to leadership.

Oversees all deliverables, including invoices and subcontract documentation, while ensuring fiscal responsibility for salaries, supplies, and subcontracting costs. Mentors and trains staff involved in grant management.

Qualifications:
Applicants should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with a solid understanding of federal and major funding agency grant submission guidelines. Experience with multi-PI proposals and the preparation of grant submission components, including progress and financial reports, is essential. Familiarity with scientific manuscript preparation and proficiency in eRA commons, NIH RePORTER, and other related proposal submission systems is preferred. A background in a laboratory environment or sponsored research office is highly desirable.

Experience Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in pre- and post-award research grant management or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory, while a Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
