About the Position

Baltimore City Community College (BCCC) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Development to join our team. As a key member of our Advancement Office, you will play a critical role in securing philanthropic support and advancing the College's mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Development: Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to achieve annual and multi-year goals, including identifying and cultivating major donors, corporations, and foundations.
  • Grants Management: Lead the team in managing approved grants and pending proposals, ensuring timely submission and reporting, and coordinating with program staff and the finance team as needed.
  • Prospecting, Cultivation, and Stewardship: Identify and research potential new sources of funding, cultivate relationships with donors, and track and document contacts and activities.
  • Staff and Board Collaborations: Serve as a key liaison between the Advancement Office and the College community, providing oversight and support to staff and engaging board members in fundraising activities.
  • Individual Donors: Prioritize the expansion of an individual donor program, including piloting new approaches and strategies, and working with the communications team to ensure timely updates and marketing materials.
  • Special Events: Plan and launch events that engage, inform, and recognize prospective and existing donors, alumni, corporate partners, and community leaders.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university in business, finance, community relations, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years' minimum experience in community outreach, development, and senior fundraising role in higher education or nonprofit organization.
  • Progressive management/supervisory experience.
  • Working knowledge of development software utilized in fundraising (e.g. Raiser's Edge).
  • Ability to use various software and MS Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in business-related field.
  • Professional Certifications preferred in fundraising.
  • 7-10 years of progressive management experience.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications and CRMs.
  • Proficient with social media platforms.
  • Excellent understanding of best practices.
