Baltimore, Maryland, United States Johns Hopkins University and Medicine: Development & Alumni Relations Full time

Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) supports Johns Hopkins'
focus on research, teaching and patient care, and its role as a
national and global leader in higher education. We create and
foster enduring relationships that result in advocacy and
philanthropic support for Johns Hopkins University & Medicine;
strengthening the institution through partnerships with donors,
alumni, volunteer leaders, faculty, students, staff, and
patients.

Johns Hopkins University supports a flexible work model which
includes four different work modalities. This role has a hybrid
work arrangement with an onsite presence of 3 days per week. The
manager will confirm the team's core onsite days where the
majority/all team members will work in the office. Employees who
travel on university business can count those days towards their
onsite days.

The Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine (FJHM) is the dedicated
development and alumni relations team supporting the entities that
comprise Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHM), including clinical
departments, hospitals, satellite clinics, and the School of
Medicine. We contribute to Johns Hopkins Medicine's mission of
patient care, research, and education through securing
philanthropy, building and maintaining donor and alumni
relationships, and supporting institutional priorities. FJHM
partners closely with institutional leaders, faculty, and
clinicians to engage alumni, patients, donors, and prospects in
JHM's work to advance medicine and improve the human condition.

The Assistant Director of Development will oversee the strategic
planning, implementation, and management of high-end annual and
occasional major gift fundraising initiatives to support the Brady
Urological Institute's faculty and programmatic priorities. This
role entails building and maintaining strong relationships with a
diverse group of donors, including friends, grateful patients,
alumni, and foundations. Collaborating with senior development
staff, faculty, administrators, and volunteer leaders across Johns
Hopkins, the Assistant Director will be responsible for
identifying, strategizing, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding
a portfolio of prospects to achieve fundraising goals.

The Assistant Director will serve as the primary development
liaison to faculty specializing in adult and pediatric
reconstructive and benign urology. Finally, they will serve as the
liaison to the Brady's alumni community, building and maintaining
relationships to foster a culture of philanthropy and
involvement.
Key responsibilities:

Develop a comprehensive understanding of the research,
teaching, and clinical programs and priorities of Johns Hopkins
University, the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, and the Brady
Urological Institute to effectively represent these needs both
internally and externally.
Manage a portfolio of approximately 100–125 prospects and
donors, aiming to personally solicit, or arrange for volunteer or
institutional solicitation of annual and occasional major gifts to
fund the priority needs of the Brady and its mission. The primary
focus will be on gifts of $10,000 or more, along with occasional
annual-fund level contributions.
Serve as the primary development liaison to a group of 3–5
urology faculty members and their care teams. Hold recurring
meetings to encourage faculty participation in development
activities, secure faculty referrals, identify and evaluate giving
potential of prospects, and coordinate faculty participation in
prospect solicitations and stewardship. Develop a working knowledge
of faculty academic activities and funding priorities while keeping
the development team up-to-date.
Complete 75 or more substantive actions and 60 or more
meaningful prospect and donor visits (in-person or virtually) per
year. Performance targets also include benchmarks for funds raised,
proposals developed and submitted, among others.
Create opportunities to expand the Brady's alumni relations
program with the goal of building connections, strengthening the
community, promoting the achievements and work of alumni, and
growing philanthropic support for the department. Maintain accurate
contact records for alumni population.
Manage comprehensive stewardship and engagement efforts to
attract and retain donors, strengthen relationships with donors and
alumni, express gratitude, demonstrate the impact of gifts, and
increase giving.
Prepare proposals, outreach and solicitation letters, and other
cultivation and informational material for prospects and
donors.
Learn and fully utilize all development systems and procedures
of Johns Hopkins University and the Fund for Johns Hopkins
Medicine, such as JHAS.

internal and external committees, cohorts, advisory groups, and
other institutional and industry groups as appropriate.
Assist with the planning and coordination of major development
events including meetings, professorship dedications, virtual
seminars, and donor recognition events, as needed.

with colleagues, and participate in meetings and committees for the
